How to use KUNOS
Countertop Oil No. 243
Wooden Surface:
Preparation: Wood must be dry (moisture content below 12 %), solid,
able to absorb, clean, free of resin and dust. Brush large-pored
wood such as oak, ash, chestnut, elm, mahogany or teak carefully,
to clean pore grooves. Sand furniture gradually up to 240 grain,
for oak use 180 grain.
Application: Depending on surface requirements and absorbency:
Apply 1 to 3 thin coats, until a surface layer has developed.
Remove excess oil approximately 3 minutes after applying the first
coat with a lint-free cloth, otherwise an uneven shiny surface
might develop. Sand with 400 grain between the 1st and
2nd applications. Remove 2nd coat 3 minutes
after application, sanding before the application of the
3rd coat is not necessary. Let dry. Remove
3rd coat 3 minutes after application as well. Between
the applications of the individual coats, let dry for at least 16
hours.
Care: Maintenance should be carried out according to
usage. As a rule 1 — 2 times annually. Prepare the surface with 280
— 320 grain, then rub or polish a thin coat of KUNOS Countertop Oil
No. 243. Clean with a damp cloth with TRENA pH-Neutral Cleaner No.
556 diluted in water.
Important tips: Stir thoroughly before use. Remove
possible skin formed on surface. Test coat is recommended. The open
time during the application can be extended by adding up to 10% of
SVALOS Thinner No. 293. On oak and other wood with
incompatibilities such as tannic acid or dyes, or on wood that has
been sanded, stripped, pre-treated, or stained, discoloration is
possible and will show up within one week of application date.
Please note that KUNOS No. 243 is not suitable as a sealant on
strained wood. For glued crosscut wood, observe a treated test area
for two days before completing application, as certain adhesives
may dissolve. Adhesives and glues have to be completely dry before
treating with KUNOS.
