VOLVOX Wood Oil - Interior

DESCRIPTION: Transparent satin finish for interior hardwood, softwood and cork, water repellent, saliva and perspiration proof and suitable for treatment of children’s toys. VOLVOX WOOD OIL will accentuate natural wood grains while retaining vapour permeability of the treated surface. Wood Oil is also known as Tongue oil or China Wood Oil.

ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH FEATURES: VOLVOX WOOD OIL is made from natural and non-toxic raw materials. Manufacturing process ensures ecological sustainability and avoids water pollution.VOLVOX WOOD OIL will not charge electro static energy. When used according to manufacturer’s direction, VOLVOX WOOD OIL is harmless to humans and the environment.

SURFACE PREPARATION: Wood must be dry, solid, clean and free of dust and resin. Carefully brush out resin in large timber grooves using a soft brass wire brush. Floor boards and other solid timber floors should be sanded with at least 100 grit sandpaper, furniture with 240 grit sandpaper or finer.

APPLICATION:
Stir well before use.
Always do a test patch first!
Apply one to three coats with a drying time of 6 to 24 hours between coats. Use paint brush, floor applicator or roller.
After 10 to 20 minutes, remove all unabsorbed oil with a lint-free cloth or machine burnish using a red or beige pad. Wipe surface dry after to remove ALL unabsorbed oil.
For best result fine sand between coats.

VARIATION OF USES:

NOTE: All oil left on surface will turn sticky and will not dry. It also will prevent hardening and curing of the treated surface.

Do not apply in temperatures below 10°C or above 30°C.

CORK: Due to the presence of tannic acid and bonding agents, for example, drying can be impaired or delayed. Cork veneer can become detached. Depending upon absorbency, treat two or three times until saturated, otherwise the surface will be sensitive to water. Finish with VOLVOX Wax Finish.

IMPORTANT : Ventilate well during application and drying processes. Due to insufficient oxygen and light, cupboard interiors treated with products containing flax seed oil often experience drying delays. Leave doors open until oil has dried completely. Fresh oiled timber could discolour if water or other liquids are left on surface for longer than 5 minutes. On oak and other woods containing incompatibilities such as tannic acid or dyes, or that have been stripped, pre-treated, or stained, discolouration is possible within a week.

DRYING AND RECOATING: 12 to 24 hours between coats.

Note: Estimate drying time by test application on cork.

CLEAN UP: For cleaning tools use warm soapy water or Iso-paraffin thinner.

COVERAGE: First coat one litre for approximately 30 m². Second coat: one litre for approximately 60 m².

STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE: Store in a cool and dry place. Unopened containers can be kept for up to two years. Transfer unused portion of product into a smaller container for storage.

INGREDIENTS: Flax Seed Oil, Flax Seed Stand Oil. Tung Oil, Hardened Calcareous Resin, Boiled Tung Oil, Lead-free Drying Agents, Silicic Acid, Beeswax, Candelilla Wax, Iso-paraffin, Anti- skinning Agent.

SAFETY: Store cleaning rags, sponges, and other tools that are wet or even slightly moistened with VOLVOX WOOD OIL in an airtight metal container or in water, as there is danger of self-combustion caused by the flax seed oil. The product alone will not undergo spontaneous combustion. Keep out of the reach of children.

DISPOSAL

Allow unwanted oil to dry. Solid matter should be disposed of via the normal garbage collection service.

MAINTENANCE In the first 3 weeks no water please! Use dry cleaning methods only such as dusting or brooming. Sand, moisture and dirt may harm your freshly treated timber. After that a damp (not wet) mopping may follow if necessary. Remove water splashes and staining liquids immediately. Remember that the oil­resin-wood layer must cure before full strength is achieved, for some this can be many weeks.

Use only products that are suitable for cleaning and maintaining natural oil finished timber. We recommend VOLVOX Wood Soap, VOLVOX Wax Finish or/and VOLVOX Floor Renovator as an additive to mobbing water. Avoid abrasive chemicals since these will attack the oil-resin-wood layer. From time to time, some drops of the original used oil can work miracles. Simply wipe a few drops to the timber. Wipe the surface dry after 10 -15 minutes.
